Wednesday, March 28th

Dear Jorie,

I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with you. You're getting very strong, kicking and moving around like a champ in there. You always seem to quiet down when your father puts his hand on my belly, which is both a good and bad thing. It's a good thing because I think he calms you, but it's a bad thing because when he does feel you kick, he gets the most amazed look on his face and goes "oh wow." Which always makes me smile.

Last week I found out that I have Gestational Diabetes, which basically means that my pancreas is getting tired doing all this work for both of us, and isn't functioning well. The good news was that nothing is hurting you about this, but it does mean that I need to watch my blood sugar and make sure I'm not giving you too much sweet stuff. If I'm not careful you'll get too big too fast, and have to come out early. Something you'll learn about me once you get to meet me is that your mother, she is not so fond of needles. Right now I have to take my own blood four times a day. I also have to eat a very strict diet of foods to keep my blood sugar even. And don't think I'll ever let you forget what I did for you ^_^

This past weekend you Father and I took a tour of the Maternity ward where you'll be born. It looks like a really nice place, and the staff there seem very nice and helpful. This past Monday, we started our prenatal classes. It's starting to get real that you're going to be born soon. Only 12 weeks to go!
